Bluehost Website Hosting Review

Choosing a web hosting company can be very difficult.  There are literally thousands of choices out there, with prices ranging dramatically between companies.   Bluehost is one of the more popular choices out there, and there is a reason why they are so popular:  They are one of the best!

I have used several web hosts, and Bluehost definitely stands out.  They keep things relatively simple; they basically offer only one hosting plan.  This comes with enough features to satisfy the needs of most web host seekers.  Up to 2,500 mailboxes, unlimited web space and bandwidth, unlimited domain hosting (including domain names registered externally), and 100 MySQL accounts.

The customer service offered by Bluehost stands out from many of the other companies out there as well.  The biggest reason?  It is all done domestically rather than outsourced.  Need I say more?

There are a few drawbacks to using Bluehost that you should be aware of.  They do limit the amount of emails that can be sent out to 50 per hour by default in order to prevent spammers from utilizing their mail servers.  This number can be increased by contacting customer service, but will still cap out at 500 per hour.  Even at 50 an hour, this limitation shouldn’t present any problems for the typical web user.  However, if sending out mass amounts of email is necessary for your business, for example because of a company newsletter or email solicitations, 500 outgoing emails per hour may be somewhat limiting.  The benefit to this limitation?  If mass email sending isn’t part of your business model, you don’t need to worry about spammers clogging up your email servers!  If it is, you can also look to third party email providers to handle your mass emailing efforts.

Bluehost also does not support catch-all email accounts.  This is also a measure to prevent clogging up the email servers with spam emails sent to random domain addresses.  The workaround is that you can set up email forwards for various mailboxes that you may have instead relied on a catchall for, but does force you to take some extra effort in manually setting up all of those forwards.

In all, Bluehost is an excellent web hosting company that is highly recommended.

I host my website on bluehost too. However, lately I have been having quite slow page loading speeds, and I can not find how I can contact them. Is anyone else also having problems?
